Requirements may vary by state, city, waterway, host, and booking type. Renters and hosts are responsible for following all applicable boating laws.
Before You Ride
Inspect the jet ski with the host, confirm the safety walkthrough, and review the return checklist before leaving the dock.
Renter Requirements
Renters must complete account verification, sign the digital waiver, and meet any age, license, or experience requirements set by the host or local law.
Host Requirements
Hosts confirm the jet ski is operable, registered where required, equipped with life jackets, and that the renter receives clear pickup and safety instructions.
Life Jacket Requirements
A properly fitted, U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket must be worn by every rider while the personal watercraft is in operation.
Boater Safety / License Requirements
Many states require a boater education card or license to operate a personal watercraft. Renters are responsible for meeting these requirements before riding.
Weather and Cancellation Safety
Do not ride in unsafe conditions. Hosts and renters should monitor weather and follow the cancellation policy when conditions are not safe.
No Alcohol or Reckless Operation
Operating a personal watercraft under the influence of alcohol or drugs is illegal. Reckless or aggressive riding will end your trip and may result in account removal.
Riding Boundaries
Stay within the host's designated riding area, follow no-wake zones, and respect swimmers, divers, and other boaters.
Navigation
Familiarize yourself with the waterway, markers, and local hazards before you ride.
Damage and Return Inspection
Complete the return inspection with the host. Damage and fuel policies are set per listing and applied per the host's agreement.
Emergency Instructions
In an emergency, call 911 or local marine emergency services first, then notify the host and RideSetter support.
